In a recent press release, EA announced the creation of Ridgeline Games, a new studio. The studio will be led by Halo co-creator, Marcus Lehto and will compose of other industry veterans. Currently, the studio is focused on creating a narrative game set in the Battlefield universe.
New EA Studio, New Beginnings for Battlefield?
The following details have been shared in the aforementioned press release from EA.
“It is a great honor to have the opportunity to collaborate with DICE and Ripple Effect and lead the charge on expanding the narrative, storytelling, and character development opportunities in the Battlefield series,” says Lehto, who is also the Game Director at Ridgeline Games.
The press release also states,
''With their ambition, passion, and years of experience across many of the best titles in the games industry, Marcus and team are excited to tell stories and take players on incredible adventures that are only possible within the Battlefield universe.''
With the creation of Ridgeline Games, it seems that EA is again focusing on creating a new Battlefield. The latest game in the series, Battlefield 2042, had received mostly negative reviews at launch. This was the first game in the series not to feature a single-player campaign. Many people were dissatisfied because the game wasn’t polished enough and had a lot of glitches. They also complained that the game was missing key features from earlier Battlefield titles.
But with Season 1 of the game, many fixes and changes were made to the game. More notable changes, including map changes and specialist classification, are also expected in the future seasons.
At this point, it seems EA is putting everything into making Battlefield thrive with the creation of this new studio. With the addition of Ridgeline to its array of studios dedicated to Battlefield, we can surely expect much more original and innovative titles. Ridgeline Games is also currently hiring for a variety of positions.
